If the morning has a clear sky, the best option will be to start at 8:30 am and then visit:
Teleferico (Cable Car) where you can get a ride to the Pichincha Volcano up to 4,000 mts. Can be added the visit depending of weather conditions, you will see the most famous volcano: Cotopaxi with 19,642 feet high, Cayambe Volcano and more, lovely views of the long and narrow city of Quito.
Drive towards downtown Quito, we will visit the “Panecillo” home of the 42 meters high Virgin statue; after we descend the Panecillo, we will park the car and walk the streets of the old city, we will visit “Plaza Grande” which is dominated by the Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, Archbishop’s Palace and City Hall, we next visit the “Compania Church” this baroque style church has one of the most elaborately decorated gold leaf interior in the world. We will visit the “San Francisco Church” another important site, named after the monastery; it is the largest catholic complex in the Americas, built in 1535.
Visit the “Basilica del Voto National” the only Gothic Style in the Historic Quito, here you can have an exhilarating experience climbing the 83 mt. high towers, for lovely views of the city and the Church inside with lovely stain glass and a wonderful Gothic Rossette depicting native wild orchids of Ecuador.
One Must do is a visit of one of “Chocolate Markers” , where you can taste Dark Chocolate made with Organic Single Origin beans native to the country, different combinations such as coffee, ginger, and more, there are few of the options: “Yumbos”, “Chocolate”, “Minka” and for amazing chocolate creations such as cookies, pastries or ice cream visit: “Pacari”; keep in mind that Ecuador has the best quality “Cacao Beans” in the World.
Drive to the North west end of the city to visit the “Middle of the World site : Intinan”, here you can stand one foot of each hemisphere at the same time, some interactive activities and experiment, here you can have a 30 minutes or one hour tour.
If you have energy and time, we definitely suggest to return to the Historic Center in the evening for a lovely walk through “La Ronda” the oldest street in the city and also the “Basilica de Quito” can be seen from the distance the new and old city.
